JR Machine Wins 2018 Manufacturing Award of Distinction

JR Machine, a leading CNC contract manufacturer, is proud to announce it has received a 2018 Manufacturing Award of Distinction. The prestigious award, presented by the Greater Green Bay Chamber and Advance, the Chamber’s economic development department, recognizes Northeast Wisconsin companies that have shown outstanding leadership, innovation, economic impact, and employee recruitment and retention.

“We are truly honored to accept this award,” said JR Machine’s president, Tim Tumanic. “It speaks to the effort of everyone on the JR Machine team in serving our customers and the community, and is recognition of the manufacturing industry’s critical role in Wisconsin’s economy.”

To claim manufacturing is good for Wisconsin is a bit of an understatement. The state has added 22,500 manufacturing jobs from August 2017 to August 2018, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and Bureau of Labor statistics. That rate is the second highest in the nation, and highest in the Midwest, for that period.

JR Machine, too, has grown: 55 percent over the last four years and currently employs 34 workers. The company broke ground in early July on its latest facility expansion. The 1.7-million-dollar investment includes a 9,000 square foot addition to JR Machine’s current manufacturing space to accommodate four new Mori Seiki NLX2500 multi-tasking CNC machines. Tumanic expects the expansion and equipment purchases to result in the creation of several new jobs.

Nominees for the 2018 Manufacturing Awards of Distinction gathered for the announcement of winners and celebratory dinner at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay on Nov. 7, 2018. Steve Janke, Statewide Veterans Field Representative, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs and Mark Hogan, Secretary and CEO Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, spoke at the event.
